Gasunie's natural gas network

Gasunie's natural gas network

To transport the natural gas Gasunie operates a highly efficient high-pressure pipeline network of around 15,500 kilometers in length in Germany and the Netherlands. This is one of the largest transport grids for natural gas in Europe. The app. 3,600 kilometers Gasunie network in Germany connects Germany with Dutch, Danish and Norwegian networks. Via the Nordeuropäische Erdgas Leitung (NEL) with a length of app. 440 kilometers where Gasunie is shareholder the Gasunie pipeline system is connected to the huge Siberian gas fields. Gas produced there is transported via Nord Stream to Germany and serves as a source for Europe.
Gasunie operates a LNG (Liquefied Natural Gas) terminal in Rotterdam.

The German market is not only one of the biggest in the world but also one of the most attractive in Europe. If nothing else because it plays an important role for the European transit of natural gas. Therewith the vision of a joint European market for energy becomes reality. Gasunie as one of the leading operator of natural gas infrastructure welcomes to take actively these challenges.
In order to be able to offer our customers reliable transport of natural gas at all times, we can make use of our widely-branched network of pipelines, control centres, compressor and metering stations.

Natural gas can be fed into our transport network at 30 entry-points (including 5 cross-border stations). Transfer takes place at around 175 delivery stations. Ten compressor stations with a total of 31 compressor units ensure reliable transport of the gas. The central control of the transported quantities of gas is carried out by our experts in the Schneiderkrug control centre. Gasunie can rely on powerful process computer systems in carrying out this task. Our control centre is the world’s most modern natural gas monitoring and control facility.
