German network operators have committed in the "Cooperation Agreement between the German gas network operators" (Cooperation Agreement) to set up market areas by cooperation, to integrate the adjacent regional and local networks and to cooperate to the technically possible and economically reasonable extent necessary. The Cooperation Agreement is necessary to provide transmission customers with the handling of gas transport, also across several interconnected networks within a market area, by means of only one entry and one exit contract. The Cooperation Agreement including attachments and guidelines is regularly updated and is available in the update version.
With the introduction of „Grundmodell der Ausgleichsleistungs- und Bilanzierungsregeln im Gassektor“(GABi gas and GABi 2.0), „Festlegungsverfahren zu Kapazitätsregelungen Gas“ (KARLA und KARLA 1.1) by the Federal Network Agency as well as further adjustments based on national or European amendments it was necessary to adapt the Cooperation Agreement regularly according to the definitions and rules. These changes are valid for the conclusion and operating of existing as well as new contracts.
