New label Gasunie Transport Services offers extended cross-border services

Hannover, 01 July 2010 | press release

On 1 July 2010 “Gasunie Transport Services” commences as an international Gasunie service label for the marketing of gas transport services. A new website www.gasunietransportservices.com has been launched, with information on both new and already existing cross-border services. An international sales desk has been established to serve internationally operating customers.

As of 1 July 2010 two new cross-border services under the name of Gasunie Transport Services are offered in the Emden/Oude region, named ‘Repositioning Service’ and ‘Backup for interruptible capacity’. The portfolio of Gasunie Transport Services also includes existing international services such as EUCABO and the recently launched Link4Hubs. These services are designed to simplify cross-border gas transmission between the Dutch and the German parts of the Gasunie grid.

Further improvement of service level

With this integrated approach, Gasunie Transport Services aims to facilitate international gas trading, to improve the service level for customers, to increase the attractiveness of the European market for gas suppliers and to boost security of supply for European consumers. With the introduction of Gasunie Transport Services, Gasunie underlines its position as a leading cross-border transport company.

Removing barriers

Geert Graaf, responsible for all Gasunie TSO (transmission system operator) activities says: "We have a clear view on our role as the first independent gas transmission provider with a cross-border network in an integrating European gas market: our customers should benefit optimally from this network. That is why we are aiming to remove barriers to cross-border trading of gas. This is a next step in the continuous process of improving and extending Gasunie's integrated transport services."

The Gasunie grid spans two countries, with different legal and regulatory frameworks governing entry and exit systems, tariffs and balancing. For this reason the Gasunie subsidiaries Gas Transport Services B.V. (GTS) in the Netherlands and Gasunie Deutschland (GUD) in Germany will continue to operate as the legal entities and contract partners in order to serve transport customers in accordance with the applicable rules of each country.
