To transport the natural gas Gasunie operates a highly efficient high-pressure pipeline network of around 15,000 kilometres in length in Germany and the Netherlands. In order to be able to offer our customers reliable transport of natural gas at all times, we can make use of our widely-branched network of pipelines, control centres, compressor and metering stations.
Gasunie Deutschland pipeline system
The 3,200 kilometres Gasunie network in Germany connects Germany with Dutch, Danisch, Norwegian networks. Via Nordeuropäische Erdgas Leitung (NEL) the Gasunie pipeline system is connected to the hughe Siberian gas fields. Gas produced there ist transported via Nord Stream to Germany and serves as a source for Europe.
Natural gas can be fed into our transport network at 30 entry-points (including 5 cross-border stations). Transfer takes place at around 177 delivery stations. Eight compressor stations with a total of 23 compressor units ensure reliable transport of the gas. The central control of the transported quantities of gas is carried out by our experts in the Schneiderkrug control centre. Gasunie can rely on powerful process computer systems in carrying out this task. Our control centre is the world’s most modern natural gas monitoring and control facility.
